Meet Our Horses

Each one of the Halleck Creek Ranch horses has an interesting history and a unique personality. Meet a few of our wonderful horses that make up the Halleck Creek Ranch herd:

Bandera is a 21-year-old Morgan gelding. He was born in Montana in 1988, and worked as a private owner's trail horse, and then a school horse at Miwok Livery in Mill Valley. Bandera was donated to Halleck Creek Ranch in 2001, when he was too old to keep up with a full schedule of lessons six days a week, and has been winning the hearts of riders and volunteers ever since.

Bandera is a favorite mount because of his personable nature, love for attention, and calm disposition. His riders can't wait to reward him with apples and carrots after each ride. Bandera is unflappable, and is perfect for riders who experience seizures, or who need side walkers for balance.

Dually is a Shetland cross pony. He was named on account of his large rear end that brings to mind those trucks that have the dual tires in the back. Dually is a relative newcomer, having joined our herd in 2009.

Donated to Halleck Creek Ranch by a Nicasio neighbor, Dually was added to the herd to work with our smaller children. His small size and friendly demeanor help calm young children and nervous parents, who may be intimidated by a full-size horse. Despite his small stature, Dually likes to walk out, and is able to keep up with the larger horses out on the trail without too much extra effort.
